Just in case you missed this little nugget…
CA: Cumulus Memo To Labels A memo from Cumulus Sr. Dir./Label Relations John Kilgo to country labels sets new policies and institutes a new label visit procedure. In its entirety:
As a follow-up to our meetings this past summer, we are continuing to evaluate our relationship with our label friends in Nashville. We have already put in place some changes that we feel will enhance our partnerships as we expose more exciting new talent on our country platform. Our overnight show with Kix Brooks was designed with this purpose in mind. The next step in strengthening our partnership with you involves streamlining our music add policy. Our goal in doing this is very simple: 1) we want to encourage more input from our markets; 2) we want to create a more effective process for our label friends to showcase your new projects.
All in-person label interaction (presentation) will now take place in Atlanta. Respecting everyone’s time and the cost of travel we will hold a monthly meeting in our offices. We are affectionately referring to this as our ‘Cumulus Country Cattle Call.’ I will be sending out dates and times slots) for each of you well in advance so we can coordinate with your schedules and get you locked in. Our Country format captains will be here for those meetings (Jan [Jeffries], Greg [Frey] and Bob [Raleigh]) and [Co-COO] John Dickey will be participating as his schedule will permit. Furthermore, once a quarter I will be setting up a lunch or dinner with each of you and John so the state of our overall relationship with your label can be discussed and strengthened. Given the above changes, weekly adds will be finalized going forward by John Dickey and reported out of Atlanta starting next week. Please feel free to call or email me with questions. Our first inaugural Cumulus Country Cattle
Call will be scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Cumulus headquarters in Atlanta. We are blocking out 10am-5pm and I will be in touch next week to lock in your time or feel free to call me … We are looking forward to seeing you and hearing about your current projects as well as new music for 2013.
