ASSAULT CONTEST: The Winner is…

Posted on Posted in Blog, Sound Design, Submitted Content

ASSAULT-LOGO3First, thanks for everyone taking the time to enter and share the page, the plug-in and my site in general. BIG thanks to my new BFF’s at Sample Logic and of course to Radio Imaging Royalty, Rick Allen. I don’t know if I can say Hundreds entered but it was really close (I didn’t count each one).  I did however draw a name at random and happily (so no one can say I played favorites) I’d never met the guy before.

His name is Michael Ormond and he is a music guy…to say the least.  He won on Twitter and you can stalk him here @m_ormondmusic

I hope to make great tools like Assault available again so check back from time to time.  Or check me out on Twitter/FB etc.  Links above.  AND don’t forget @Rickallencre8 and @SampleLogic on twitter.

I will also continue my podcast where I talk to Voiceover Talent, Producers of great Imaging, Owners of great sound companies and everything in between.

Check out some sweet sounds from Michael…

More about Michael:

Emerging media music composer and orchestrator residing in Cincinnati, Ohio. I compose for a variety of ensembles, mediums, and genres. Currently I’m focusing on creating a production cue library that will be available for licensing. These cues will be suitable for film and trailers, documentary, product marketing commercials, video games, smartphone apps, podcast and other related media types. Recently I developed a fascinating interest exploring sound design and patch development for various libraries.

m ormondIn 2008, my son was born with a rare life-threatening bone marrow failure disease called Fanconi Anemia. He has spent half his life in and out of the hospital battling this disease. You can visit www.fanconi.org to learn more about this very rare disease. After several years away from music focused his health, I am reviving and (re) establishing my music composition career. I am also performing as a clarinetist with the TwtrSymphony (@twtrsymphony). This is a new concept orchestra that began a year ago comprised of professional musicians from all over the world. The premise of twtrsymphony is that composers struggle to find orchestras to play their works. Premieres of new orchestral works tend to be by composers who either are already established or have an association with the orchestra. TwtrSymphony wants to give a venue to composers everywhere to get a short sample of their music out to the world. We currently have a kickstarter project running to fund an album of new music which will be selected from our call for scores. We had over 100 composers from across the globe submit their new music.

It is truly an exciting project that I hope people will check out.

My composing influences are John Williams. John Debney, Bill Brown, Trevor Morris, Danny Elfman, Robin Hoffmann, Eduardo Tarilonte, Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix, Nick Murray, Daniel James, Mike Patti, and Alex Pfeffer. I also have to credit John “Skippy” Lehmkuhl (aka the plug-in guru), Matt Bowdler (aka the unfinished), and Diego Stocco with inspiring my interest in sound design and patch development. I listen to a lot of music to constantly learn and grow as a composer.

In my studio I use Finale 2012 and Cakewalk’s Sonar X2 Producer as my DAW. Libraries that I use frequently are Sample Logic’s Morphestra, Cinematic Guitars, Rumble, and Fanfare.  Spectrasonics Omnisphere, CineBrass by CineSamples, and Heavyocity’s Damage.

Huge thanks to Ryan Drean, Sample Logic, and Rick Allen for  the “Assault” contest and making this possible. I am very excited about incorporating this incredible library into my sound palette and music!!
